Mountain Camp

The Mountain Camp is quiet, private and an excellent place to go camping with dogs.

Ripley's

Long Term Camping at Ripley ’s My wife and I are part and parcel of the Long Term Campaholics, being long term campers since March 2020, when we became pensioners. We visited al those far off (and near) places we have never been to. With the drastic diesel price increase end 2021 we were forced to slow down and decided to do long term camping at Ripley ‘s, based on a monthly quotation received from owners Kallie and Christa. We have camped here since December 2021 and enjoyed our stay very much. Ripley ‘s is situated on a 25 hectare plot in Brakwater in the foothills of the Khomas Hochland. Lovely walking trails in rough terrain passing through lovely nature, which tests the body with the result of working up a sweat, increasing the heartbeat and allowing for deep breathing – great for the “good feeling” after a work out. Fresh air by the cubic meters Plenty of Spingbok with lambs born every year, Sable antelopes and Blesboks. Bird lovers will enjoy their stay and be able to see the annual visiting birds (Diderick Cuckoo, Klaas’s Cuckoo, Jacobin Cuckoo, .......) and the abundance of local birds including Pearl Spotted Owl, Monteiro’s Hornbill, Ashy and Carps Tit, even Fish Eagles migrating between Goriangab and Von Bach, to name but a few. There are tree camp-sites with shade net protection on brick paving hard stand and own ablution with lovely views. 220V electricity and water on site. Contact Kallie or Christa for a monthly rent quotation – you will be surprised to find out one can stay here for less than the rent in Windhoek 16 kilometres away. Ripley ‘s also have one bedroom bungalows to rent with own ablution and small kitchenette. Ripley ‘s is safe – we never felt endangered. So dust of your motor-home and pack your caravan. Leave the hustle and bustle of Windhoek behind and come and enjoy nature and hospitality at its best. Visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/campRipleys/ . More information at https://campinginnamibia.com/space/ripleys-camp Thank you Kallie, Christa and Charles, we enjoyed your hospitality and the safety of your camp-site. We have to move to our retirement address, because ageing is not for sissies.

Ultimate favourite

Clean, budget friendly, top friendly staff and owner. By far my favourite place to be in Namibia. I will never miss an oppertunity to go there again and again and again. FYI, they made Mariental a definite to be revisited place.

Unique experience in the Moon Valley

A truly Namibian experience...with a touch of Italian personality reflected in outrageously good food and hearty hospitality. The secret of Palmenkop is its versatility, which makes it the ideal getaway for those longing for a peaceful weekend surrounded by nature, but also the place to go for families with kids who will have a blast interacting with the super friendly animals and living the "little farmer" life!!

Super!!

We visited 21 Dunes over the Easter weekend 2022 and were impressed. 2 campsites on top of the red Kalahari dunes with a beautiful view. Each camp has its own ablution and relaxing area under tent. This area can be closed if the wind is getting too strong.

Betts camping

We've stayed at Betts on a number of occasions and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a very useful overnight stop with a wonderful viewing platform at each camp site. Thet's also a diet sheltered earing area which is a great help is the winds blowing. Having both petrol and diesel at the garage there is an added advantage. Just check that you have your fuel cap! The garage guys were really busy and we didn't check that the cassia had been replaced! We left ours behind

Do NOT Stay - our Land Cruiser was DAMAGED here!

Terrible owners and a horrible stay, we recommend travellers to stay away. We booked their apartment via Airbnb. Arrived and was told to park outside the house, on a sharp bend of their estate road. We stayed on their premises and did not leave for the 2 nights booked. On the last night, we were about to leave when we saw a 15 CM CRACK on our windscreen, probably due to their own vehicle driving past quickly on this sharp bend and kicking up a sharp object. Owner quickly blamed us for this. We arrived with our land cruiser WITHOUT a crack, and had to detour back to Rundu and pay for a windscreen replacement (4800+NAD) out of our own pocket because of the negligence of this property's owner. The house itself has a thatched roof, but it is leaking and covered with an ugly trash bags. Rooms are not well maintained - the roof is corrugated, the mosquito net is broken, the light flickers on and off when you turn it on. There are ALOT of palm-size spiders inside the house, in the bathroom and living room. There are also snakes and foot-long lizards. The lizard does eat any food bags left in the kitchen, so we had to put our dry and packaged food into a cupboard. There is a warning sign outside the property about snakes and spiders, but of course no one warned us before we booked this (it is conveniently left out of the description). In the night, across the corrugated roof of our room, there was either a huge rat or lizard running up and down, leaving us with little sleep. As the mosquito net was broken, we were bitten multiple times in our sleep also. If you value your car and your sleep, suggest to avoid this place at all cost. And it left a huge bad taste in our mouth that the owner could even have the cheek to suggest that our windscreen was damaged by ourselves when it was parked, unmoved, throughout our entire stay. ALL the camp sites are also literally right beside their farm road and susceptible to damage from their farm vehicles. If anything else happened to your camping vehicle here, not only will the owner avoid helping or responsibility, she will also blame you.
